Colour
We want to go with three colours for the posters, each
being a separate poster as three always works together
nicely. We want to go for colours that are bright as these
posters will be around in summer and colours that are
gender neutral.
Type
Selecting various typefaces and typing out the title of the exhibition has been useful, seeing how they all look and which
one stands out most. I have asked various people for their opinions on the type and the majority have said to stick with
something simple such as Gotham.
Colour
We decided on these colours as they are bright and
refreshing for the time of year the branding will be
around Leeds, they are eye catching and gender neutral.
Type
We decided to go with Gotham, a clear and friendly type for the branding that comes
in a variety of weights for other applications. Once we decided on the type and colour
it was then difficult to choose what colour to have the type against the colours we had chosen, we initially looked at white however we were unsure whether it stood out enough, I experimented further with dark blues out of the confetti as it complemented all of the colours we were working with.
Layout
I didn’t experiment too much with the layout of the type as I knew I wanted it centrally aligned to work with the balloons, I experimented with using uppercase and lowercase letters and realised uppercase would work best being more sharp. In the end we decided to put the type of the posters in blue and white as we felt they complemented each other.
