I have enjoyed working on this brief as I enjoy developing logos and developing different concepts. The theme was to design a new ‘don’t pee’ logo as this is a problem that Glastonbury faces every year festival goers peeing on the grounds not realising the damage it causes the grounds and the environment. Peeing on the grounds actually ruins the water table within the fields and kills the fish and harms many animals.
I began this brief with some initial ideas and asking people what they thought the logo should look like after explaining he problem. I initially read too much into the issue and began designing a fish telling people not to pee which after much feedback its not clear why the fish is in the logo. I reacted to the feedback and experimented with a dead fish skelington and working the type into that, I asked people for feedback again if they saw this at a festival what would they think. I realised yet again a fish would not stop people from peeing dead or alive.
I went back to sketching ideas again and brain storming, looking back at my research and logos around peeing. I started to think about all the things that you see at festivals, the majority of people wear wellies at festivals and it makes the environment sad so initially drew this and then developed it further on illustrator. I have developed my vector skills during this brief, I drew more festival vectors to see how this brief could develop, it would develop by a6 leaflets and fold out info booklets.
I was going to expand the brief however I put the logo in my portfolio that was going to be reviewed by a studio in Leeds and they didn’t seem to like the brief or seem very enthused so I decided to spend more time on another brief.
Overall I am really happy with the logo for this brief, I have entered it into the competition for the chance to win 2 Glastonbury tickets. This brief has made me want to develop vectors further in the future, if I had more time I would of made some printed outcome for this brief.
